What is a caravan leak test?

A caravan leak test is a specialised inspection that checks your caravan, camper trailer, motorhome, or RV for water ingress and potential leak points before they cause expensive damage.

Using a positive pressure testing system, we can identify areas where water may enter your van.

How long does a leak test take?

Most inspections take between 1 and 2 hours, depending on the size and complexity of the caravan.

Do I need to bring my caravan to a workshop?

How does positive pressure leak testing work?

We temporarily pressurise the inside of your caravan using specialised equipment. A safe testing solution is then applied externally to seals, joins, windows, hatches, and fittings.

If air escapes through any opening, bubbles form, allowing us to accurately pinpoint the leak location.

Every Caravan will require the correct amount of pressure no two caravans will be the same, this comes down to utilizing the correct pressure unit.

Why is leak detection important?

Water leaks can cause:

• Structural damage
• Timber rot
• Delamination
• Mould and mildew
• Electrical issues
• Reduced resale value

Detecting leaks early can save thousands of dollars in repair costs.

How often should my caravan be tested?

We recommend:

• Annually as part of regular maintenance
• Before purchasing a used caravan
• Before warranty expiry
• After accidents or storm damage
• If you notice damp smells, staining, or moisture

Annual testing is considered best practice for caravan owners.

Can you inspect a caravan before I buy it?

Absolutely.

A pre-purchase leak inspection can help identify hidden water ingress issues and provide peace of mind before committing to a future purchase.

Even new caravans can develop leaks due to:

• Seal shrinkage
• Manufacturing defects
• Travel vibration
• Impact damage
• Weather exposure

Regular inspections are recommended regardless of age.

What do I need to have ready?

Safe, level access to the Caravan/ RV with room to work around it, the Van unlocked, all windows, hatches and vents closed so the test reads accurately. Power and water onsite available onsite
